Arab Winter Exhibition and Show Live at Fresh Paint Gallery, 180 St-Catherine East, December 2nd 2011. Arab Winter is a Multimedia, multi-disciplinary event with musicians, painters, calligraphists, graffiti artists and short films. It is the first show in a series by this collective of Artists.

Karim Jabbari began his artistic journey at the tender age of twelve. His difficult childhood was eased by a passion for calligraphy, allowing him to express what he could not in words. Later in life and far from home, calligraphy became a reminder of where he came from and what he left behind. His love for the Arabic language intensified as he began to delve deeper into its beautiful letters, words, and syllables. Always searching for an original concept to breathe more vibrancy and life into his creations, Karim’s work is continuously evolving. Classic Kufic and Maghrebi calligraphy are featured in many of his compositions. This preference arises from the strong pull towards his North African background and his belief in keeping dying traditions alive.

About Letters of Rebellion

Karim’s contribution is meant to explore the hidden meanings of the Arab revolution and expose the human hopes that are expressed by people standing up for their rights. Jabari will put forward a series of calligrahy and abstract paintings on canvases, wood and glass of different sizes and shapes.
